Something triggers you, and before you’ve even felt it all the way through, your mind has already decided whether that feeling is allowed. Anger gets filed under bad. Rage gets filed under bad. Sadness gets filed under bad too. Then your body tightens, your mind starts judging, and you find yourself resisting the very thing you’re trying to move through.
Maybe you feel certain you’re right and the person you love is wrong, and that certainty is the only thing that feels solid. I want to show you what’s underneath that moment and what becomes possible when you stop judging your emotions as wrong.
By the end of this post, you’ll understand why all or nothing thinking about your emotions makes life feel flat and stressful. You’ll also know how to see every emotion, including the ones you’ve been resisting, as creative life force energy you can stay open to.
The Game Your Mind Plays
Your mind likes to think that only black and white exist. You succeed or you fail. You’re right or you’re wrong. Once that game is running, your mind applies it to your emotions too, deciding what is good and welcome and what is bad and needs to be avoided. That is all or nothing thinking, and it’s the reason it’s so hard to stop judging your emotions in the moment.
The problem is everything the game leaves out. When all you can see is black and white, you miss the beauty, the power, the flavors, the textures, and the experiences that live in between. And when your mind is busy in activity while disconnected from your physical body, you feel less, yet you become more stressed.
What Happens When Your Mind Decides an Emotion Is Wrong
When you witness a strong expression of emotion, like two people shouting at each other, your mind can decide that the whole exchange is bad, wrong, and undesirable. In that moment you move into judgment and resistance, and life goes flat.
That flatness is worth noticing. Without the full range of human emotion, there are no shapes, no forms, and no textures. There is only emptiness. When you reject the emotions you’ve labeled bad, you lose far more than the discomfort you were trying to avoid.
Emotions Are the Paint, Not the Problem
Here is what I teach instead. All of the human emotions are flavors, textures, notes, and paint colors that you get to create your life with. They are the paints that create the canvas, with light and dark complementing each other to create art.
When you stay present in your experience and begin to notice these flavors of expression without judgment, you can allow them to move through you rather than meeting them with resistance. The emotions you once resisted and called bad, wrong, or undesirable become part of the life story that fuels you.
Anger and Play Are Made of the Same Energy
This is the part that changes how you see other people. The energy between two children playing and the energy between two people arguing are both creative life force energy. When you look at it without judgment, you can see the ripples of that energy moving through their bodies and between them.
What separates the two is the judgment your mind adds, deciding that one interaction is good and the other is bad. When that judgment drops, you can simply see an interaction as an energetic expression and allow it to be so. You don’t feel the holding, the resistance, or the wanting to change what is.
When You Feel Right and They Feel Wrong
This matters most with the people you love. When something triggers you, I want you to notice the moment your mind moves into judgment and resistance, and then come back to curiosity. In a hard exchange with someone close to you, you may feel right and they may feel wrong. From your centered heart, mind, and body, you can see that as only one way of looking at what’s happening.
From there, you can see the energy, the colors, and the vibrations moving back and forth between the two of you, and you can get curious and even fascinated by what you’re creating together. I won’t pretend it’s easy. It is harder to stay open to challenging emotions, and each time you do, you move out of that flat, black-and-white place faster and back into the vibrancy of your life.
Even Grief Carries Beauty
This includes the emotions that hurt the most. When you stay open to grief for someone who has crossed over, you can feel the beauty in it. You feel the beauty of your love for them, and you see the power of the life force moving through you.
Being in Your Life and Watching It at the Same Time
When you can receive your emotions without judgment, you gain a second ability. You can be fully inside your own experience as the star of your life, and you can also watch it from a step back. From there you can see all of it as a beautiful part of your life story, one that shapes who you are and how you show up in the world.
A Client’s Story
When this client first started working with me, she was constantly scanning her emotions and her conversations for what she had done wrong, could do wrong, or might do wrong, and she punished herself tremendously whenever she felt something her mind had judged as wrong. Through our work together and this Hypnosis Recode, she moved out of right and wrong and into being with what is, no matter what she was feeling. She discovered the life force energy that lives in every emotion, and that freedom showed up as greater success in her career, more freedom in her personal life, and better relationships with herself and her loved ones.
Her shift is the one I’m describing here. When the sorting into right and wrong loosens, every emotion becomes something you can be with instead of something you have to defend against.

Questions to Sit With
- Which emotions has my mind decided are bad, and what happens in my body when one of them shows up?
- Where do I need to be right and the person I love to be wrong?
- What would a recent trigger look like if I saw it as creative life force energy instead of something bad?
- What would be missing from my life if anger, sadness, and grief were taken out of it?
- What do I notice shifting when I stay open to a hard emotion instead of resisting it?
- What emotion have I resisted that I could begin to see as part of the story that fuels me?
The next time something triggers you, notice the moment your mind decides the feeling is wrong, and notice what goes flat when it does. What might you see in that moment if you stayed curious about the color instead of judging it?
