Hypnosis: How to Stop Fighting Your Pain and Hear the Message Inside It

You want the pain to be over. You have tried to get away from it, fix it, understand it, and think your way out of it, and somewhere along the way a quieter thought moved in: maybe I did something wrong, or maybe I am broken.

I want to talk about that pull toward relief and what it does to the pain itself. Whether the pain is physical, mental, emotional, psychic, or spiritual, the most common response is the same. We want it gone. We see it as an enemy to conquer, a problem to solve, or a heavy burden to bear, and we meet it with resistance, fear, and avoidance.

What I Want You to See About Pain

By the end of this post, I want you to see your pain as blocked, stuck, or restricted life force energy that carries a message. I also want you to know that you can relate to it with curiosity, breath, sound, and gentle movement instead of a fight. You do not have to solve it first. You can start by being with it.

Why Wanting It to End Keeps Us Stuck

Wanting relief is human. Pain is an undeniable part of the human journey, and the urge to get away from it makes complete sense.

What I notice is that the fight adds its own layer. When I see pain as an enemy, my body and mind tighten around it. The rigid mind steps in and decides what the pain means, and that verdict is often that I have done something wrong or that I am broken. Now there is the pain, plus the constriction, plus the story about what the pain says about me.

What I Teach Instead: Be With What Is

What I teach instead is to allow yourself to feel what you feel, with as little resistance as possible. Notice your thoughts, your emotions, your experience, your past, and maybe your fear of how this pain will shape and shift your life. Being with what is does not mean giving up. It means you stop spending your energy on the fight.

Bringing presence to an experience changes your relationship to it. When you sit at the edge of the pain with curiosity, instead of trying to fight it, get rid of it, understand it, or think your way out of it, a new pathway can open in what has felt rigid, stuck, blocked, and limited.

From there, the work is to gently restore the movement of life force energy. I invite you to move your breath, your mind, your emotions, and your physical body ever so gently, and to use sound, so the energy that has been held can begin to move.

Reading Pain Through the Elements

One way I work with this is to look at the energetic signature of the pain through the elements of earth, water, fire, air, and space.

Pain that feels rigid, unyielding, heavy, and dark, maybe even depressed, has an earth quality. When you bring in the element of water through your movement, your breath, and the fluidity of your thoughts, the heaviness of earth becomes a different experience. Pain may also feel fiery or prickly. Each element has something to offer: earth is healing and grounding, water is fluid emotional healing, fire is transformation, air is oxygenating and cleansing, and space connects you to the creative consciousness that chose to move into your body.

This matters because it gives you something to do besides fight. What you have been calling pain or a problem to be fixed becomes an expression of energy and of the elements, something you are learning to hold and not fear.

Pain as a Messenger, a Portal, and a Life Reset

I invite you to try on the possibility that pain is a messenger, a portal, and a life reset that is asking you to see other ways of being, feel other ways of being, and explore other ways of moving through your daily activities.

Earth school will keep presenting challenges, opportunities, and painful lessons. They also connect you to your soul path, and they ask you to listen for your soul truth. The main thing I want you to take from this is the possibility itself: opening, and releasing rigid constriction, contraction, and resistance.

A Client Story: From Demanding the Ultimate Answer to Listening

A client I reconnected with was struggling with extreme emotional and physical pain that came in cycles and left him unable to function at its worst. I encouraged him to book a session whenever a cycle hit, and the first time, he was in such a fierce battle with the pain that he was searching for one answer to end it, which kept him stuck in it. In a more recent session, he stopped demanding instant, miraculous change, felt what was there, listened to the message, and let relief arrive in small increments. He now treats these cycles as a soul assignment to navigate with more ease, gentleness, and curiosity.

What softened the pain for him was seeing that in a storm you don’t walk away from the controls. You get clear and focused on the small changes that move you through it with the least damage.

That is what I mean by relating to pain with presence. You stop demanding that the storm disappear, you stay at the controls, and you work with what is actually here.

What You’ll Receive

  • A new way to see pain: as blocked, stuck, or restricted life force energy, not an enemy to conquer.
  • Permission to stop trying to get away from it, fix it, or think your way out of it.
  • Release from the verdict that you did something wrong or that you are broken.
  • A way to read the energetic signature of your pain through earth, water, fire, air, and space, and to bring in the element that changes your experience of it.
  • The possibility that your pain is a messenger, a portal, and a life reset.
  • A deeper connection to your soul path and your soul truth in the middle of earth school’s challenges.

Questions to Sit With

  • Where am I trying to get away from my pain instead of being with it?
  • What have I decided my pain means about me?
  • What thoughts, emotions, memories, and fears show up when I let myself feel what I feel?
  • Which element does my pain feel like right now, and which element might meet it?
  • What might this pain be inviting me to see, feel, or do differently in my daily activities?
  • What would open up if I met this with curiosity instead of rigid resistance?

If you have been treating your pain as the enemy, I wonder what it would be like to treat it as a messenger for one day. What might it say if you stopped fighting long enough to listen?
