Moving Meditation: Pleasure & Power Live in Your Body – Divine Feminine Embodiment

You know you carry something powerful. You can feel a tender, sensual, pleasure-loving part of you, and you can feel a fierce part that wants to burn illusions to the ground. Sometimes the blend of the two scares even you, because you have never been shown how to move that much power through a human body.

Somewhere along the way, you may have picked up the idea that the mother, the good woman, is some kind of martyr. I mean the virginal, self-sacrificing, sexless version. If that image is the only one on offer, of course your own power feels like a problem to manage.

What I want you to see by the end of this

I want you to see that you do not have to figure out the one big thing you are here to share before you begin. The place to start is smaller and closer than that. It is breath, sound, movement, and giving yourself permission to find the pleasure of your being, especially when no one is watching.

The conflict is held in your body

The conflict between who you are and what humanity has taught you about the mother is not just an idea. I believe it lives in your spine, in your womb, and in your sex. That is also where the power of creation lives.

When I look at the beliefs women carry about this, I keep coming back to how misguided the martyr image is. It cuts off the part of the mother that is a lover, a creator, and a source of pleasure.

Venus and Medusa are both yours

You hold the codes of Aphrodite and Venus, the goddess of creativity, pleasure, and fertility. You also hold the code of Medusa. You hold the power of creation and the power of destruction, the fierce goddess and the unconditionally loving mother, and you hold the fire-breathing dragon that moves quickly to destroy the illusions humanity has built.

That fire has burned you, deeply and completely. Even so, your human self still holds the vitality of your truth and is ready to express your message and your gift to the world. A part of you already knows this, and a part of you already trusts your soul wisdom.

You no longer have to believe what humanity has told you, that somehow you are bad or wrong. What you have lived through has given you fuel for the fire of awakening your unique expression. Both sides, Venus and Medusa, are part of it. Part of your path is to support others in remembering that the great power the mother holds is all of it.

You do not have to know the one thing to share

It is not one thing for you to share. The most important place to start is to embody this wisdom in your everyday life. I invite you to ask yourself some questions:

  • Who are you being when no one is looking?
  • What are you saying when no one can hear?
  • What is the truth you long to speak, beyond the confusion of the human mind, beyond all the shoulds, the shame, and the fear?

That fear is real, and it comes from things that actually happened in this life and in other lives. Still, the seed of knowing lives in your womb, your spine, and your body. For that seed to break its shell and grow from seed to sprout to plant to tree, the path is moving pleasure through your body when no one is watching, when no one can hear, and when no one can stop you.

Start with the simplest pleasures

You are infinity embodied, and it is the smallest practices that open this up: breath, movement, sound, and permission. Bring pleasure into the simplest parts of your doing:

  • Making a cup of tea
  • Embracing your family
  • Watching the sun come through the window
  • Making art, bathing, eating, resting
  • Washing your hands and your face
  • Putting moisturizer on your skin
  • Gently touching the curve of your neck
  • Running your fingers through your hair

I think this is the point everyone is missing. The simple ecstasy of feeling your body, of breathing, of your heart beating, is already an embodied expression of divinity.

The permission to find the pleasure of sex is born from these simple acts. It grows out of letting your being be expressed through your doing.

What this looks like in real life

During one of my client’s Pleasurable Midlife series, her wife and her friends noticed that she was often spontaneously saying “yum” and “mmmmm” when she was enjoying herself. She didn’t plan it. It started coming through on its own.

She credits the Daily Recode pleasure practices as the anchors that moved her from burned out to turned on. The only thing that had changed in her life was her.

That is what I mean when I say the smallest practices matter. When pleasure becomes part of your daily life, the people around you can feel the shift.

Pleasure includes the hard parts too

Even the discomforts of being human fuel your desire. The expansion and the contraction, the confusion and the clarity, the pleasure and the pain all belong to the experience. The more you allow it and give yourself permission to feel the pleasure of even the pain, the contraction, the confusion, and the numbness, the more life moves through you.

When you stop resisting what the mind says it likes or dislikes and move into your human body experience, you find the divine expression of who you are. That includes the kundalini power, the serpent power moving through your veins, enlivening your heart, and breathing your breath. It is also how you begin releasing the fear and shame you carry about your access to it.

A simple moving meditation to try right now

Here is the practice I guide in the episode. Find a comfortable seated position, close your eyes, and give yourself full permission to be here with your body and your breath.

  1. Breathe gently. Notice your inhale and exhale. Expand your inhale a little more and exhale a little more, without forcing.
  2. Wake up the edges. Wiggle your fingers and toes to enliven the edges of your body with your breath.
  3. Make sound on the exhale. Try “hmm,” then “ah,” then “ooh.” Keep sounding if you want to.
  4. Move your head and heart. On the inhale, press your head back and lift your heart slightly. On the exhale, press your heart back and let your head come forward. Keep it super gentle.
  5. Move your pelvis. On the inhale, stick out your tail so your lower back arches slightly. On the exhale, turn your tail under.
  6. Put them together if it feels good. The movement can be very subtle and does not have to be big.
  7. Snake your ribcage side to side. Feel your spine moving and enlivening the life force and kundalini energy that lives in you as you.

Let breath and sound move through you in whatever way feels good. Stillness settles in your mind, and you become open to receive guidance and inspiration from your Akashic field.

Where this leaves you

You do not have to wait until you understand all of your power, or until the fear is gone, to begin. What would it change if you let one ordinary moment today, a cup of tea or washing your face, be a place where you allow yourself pleasure? And what might your people notice if the “yum” and the “mmmmm” started coming through on their own?
